28 years after international recognition, Croatia has opened a new chapter. With the first minutes of January, Croatia took over a six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, six and a half years after becoming a member of the EU.

When we travel to another city or country, we usually want to bring some souvenir, figure or postcard as a memory to that trip. People mostly buy lighters, glasses, magnets and cups with a flag or a photo of a destination, but why not buy an indigenous souvenir, something for which a particular place is recognizable? For this reason, we've decided to list several original Croatian souvenirs as a perfect memory of staying in our beautiful country.

The necktie/cravat is a decorative garment that is worn around the neck beneath a shirt collar made of silk or other material. As the original Croatian product, it spread to Europe in the 17th century through Croatian soldiers in the thirty-year war, where it became a recognizable fashion detail. The first was accepted by the French, and in their language comes with the name “cravate” and later in other European languages with similar names.
