Picigin days in Split

Picigin on Bačvice beach is also synonymous with the specificity of this part of the city and the whole Split and was proclaimed a national cultural property by the Ministry of Culture.

There is a tradition related to picigin, which is the New Year's picigin played by the most passionate players on January the 1st. Some of them play picigin all year long and even in winter. The only important weather condition is that the wind is not blowing due to the light ball with which they play.

Of course, someone invented the picigin world championship, which has been held in Split since 2005. To determine the winner of the World Cup, there is a scoring system that evaluates the number of successful strokes and acrobatic skills.

Picigin Days is a manifestation of the revival character through which, in addition to picigin, other traditional and new games and activities are also promoted. With the inevitable review of Picigin, you will also enjoy the Balun on the sand, Balun in the shallow sea , Glavomet, and some new games like Picigol, Picington and Penniss.

In addition to this sport event, a horticultural beach arrangement is planned, with the planting of ornamental plants and seedlings of tamarisk trees and pitospores.
