Šćedro is an islet not far from the southern coast of Hvar in the Korčula Channel, 2.7 km away from the village of Zavala. It is 6.5 km long and 1.5 km wide, with an area of 8.36 km, and the highest peak 113 m. About 3 km west of Šćedro are Lukavci - three islands that are once above the surface, and sometimes flooded by the sea.
Protected as a nature park, in its untouched beauty, with many hidden coves, it provides an exceptional experience to every visitor.
The bays of Šćedro have been known since ancient times as good anchorages and safe ports, and some of the most famous battles were fought in this area, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds in the depths around Šćedro. During the tourist season, a boat from Zavala runs to Šćedar every day. The beauty of Šćedar is in the indentation of its shores and the vegetation of typical Mediterranean communities of forest and maquis. Since 1968, Šćedro has been protected in the category of significant landscape.
The quietest Mediterranean island has no electricity or water, solar panels and cisterns are used, and has two permanent residents.
