Komiža has long fishing tradition which is reflected in the appearance of this small town and in the warmth of the local people. It is situated at the foot of the hill Hum and protected from all the northerly winds and is subsequently the warmest place in Croatia in winter. The archipelago of Komiža encompasses even the farthest Adriatic islands, rich with fish – Biševo, Palagruža, St. Andrija as well as Jabuka and Brusnik – islands of volcanic origin.
Komiža has 15 beaches, each of which is equally beautiful and equally special. On the eastern coast of Komiža bay there are many pebble beaches with springs of drinking water: Nova pošta, Velo žalo, Pizdica, Kamenice i Gusarica.
Lovers of adventure can enjoy diving, caving and paragliding and the interior of the island is rich in wine roads. The most popular is certainly visiting Blue Cave the pearl od Adriatic at he island Biševo and Geopark Vis Arhcipelago. There are lots of summer events such as Big Game Fishing - popular sport and fishing activity in the world in form of international qualifications in July and Rota Palagruzona - The historical regatta on the route Komiža-Palagruža.
