Cabar

Čabar is a town in the northern part of Gorski Kotar and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, located in a valley in the middle of a green forest oasis and surrounded by hills. A few kilometers away is the Čabranka river, which is also the border with Slovenia.

This area is rich in natural beauty. In the immediate vicinity is the Risnjak National Park, as well as the sources of the two rivers Čabranka and Kupa. In addition to the real winter atmosphere during the winter months, it is also extremely pleasant here in the summer, since this nature provides excellent protection from the heat. Since more than 94% of the city area is under forest, it is safe to say that Čabar is the city with the largest park in Europe.

Winter tourism has become popular again in terms of attendance. This is due to the ski slopes (skiing, Nordic skiing, sledding) at Rudnik, ski lift at the ski resort and catering facility. The months with the most snow, such as January and February, are great for skiers and winter sports enthusiasts. there is also private accommodation and several holiday homes and hunting lodges.

During the warmer months, the Čabar area is ideal for mountaineers, cyclists, fishermen, forest fruit pickers, and lovers of swimming in rivers. The swimming pools below the villages of Zamost and Sela na Čabranca, below Osilnice on Kupa and on the lagoon below Kočičina are ideal for true refreshment.
