    Starry Summer in Karlovac

    Starry Summer Karlovac and the event of the Karlovac City Day celebration, begins on June 23 and lasts until the 447th birthday of the city of Karlovac, Thursday, July 13.

    Three weeks of great summer fun and over 150 programs that bring art, music, tradition, sports and various activities of various contents for all generations.

    The new edition of the Starry Summer will begin with a grand opening in front of the Zorin Dom City Theater and a concert by Jacques Houdek on June 23rd, which will transform Karlovac into a meeting place through music, theater, folklore, gastronomy, and an unforgettable atmosphere in more than three weeks, followed by the 247-year-old tradition, the midsummer bonfire on the banks of the Kupa, which has been declared an intangible cultural asset of the Republic of Croatia.

    Lovers of theater, contemporary art, and independent culture will enjoy programs such as PARKiranje and Fire Show, Street Art Gallery, ArtiKA, and the summer edition of the Karlovac Dance Festival. In addition, the cultural mosaic is complemented by the Days of Jewish Heritage, the 30th anniversary of the Karlovac Majorettes, and KaKaFe.which hosts renowned theatres and productions from all over Croatia, and the plays are performed at numerous outdoor locations.

    Music enthusiasts will especially enjoy the Karlovac Open Air Tribute Festival, a three-day musical spectacle taking place from 2. to 4. of July at the Šanac basketball court with performances by famous tribute bands, including The Rock Stars Multi Tribute Show, Lady Gaga Tribute Show and Electric Corn.

    During the Starry Summer, numerous tournaments and recreational programs will be held, from football, water polo and beach volleyball to cycling, chess competitions, fencing and abseiling from the Old Town of Dubovac. A special sporting highlight will be on July 12th at Vunsko polje, where the Marin Čilić Foundation's Gem Set Croatia event will be held.

    An indispensable part of the Starry Summer are the International Folklore Festival and the Tastes of the World festival. Traditional music and flavors from Puerto Rico, Madagascar, Singapore, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, and Romania are coming to Karlovac.

    The highlight of the celebration is the Birthday Ball, the great birthday party Karlovac on July 13 when Karlovac celebrates its 447th Birthday when  as many dancing couples will dance a waltz in honor of their city. Karlovac is one of the few cities in Croatia that knows the exact date of its creation - July 13, 1579. The birthday will be celebrated with a concert by Jelena Rozga.
