Dubrovnik is once again preparing to host one of the most prestigious running events in the region – the Dubrovnik Spartan Trail.
It is a unique trail race that combines challenge, nature and history in one of the most beautiful locations in the Mediterranean. Set in the spectacular surroundings of Dubrovnik, a city known for its walls, rich cultural heritage and impressive coastline, this event takes participants through untouched nature, ancient paths and hidden landscapes that most visitors never experience.
This extreme race in classic hill and mountain running without obstacles brings together hundreds of local and international competitors who will test their limits in three demanding distances: 10K, 21K (half marathon) and 50K (ultra).
Unlike classic street marathons, the Spartan Trail is entirely dedicated to pure nature. The race routes deliberately avoid asphalt, Stradun and the city’s pedestrian zones. Depending on the length of the course, runners start from attractive locations outside the city itself – from Mihanići in Konavle, Mlini or Šumet, depending on which race you choose.
The center of entertainment and accompanying content moves to the top of Srđ Hill (near the Imperial Fortress), where the finish line is set. There you can expect: a DJ and outdoor music program, a rich offer of food and drinks to refresh visitors and fans, and a festive ceremony to announce the winner, award unique finisher medals and celebrate with a spectacular sunset overlooking the Old Town.
With demanding but picturesque courses that connect the sea, mountains and rural settlements of the Dubrovnik region, the organizers have prepared a number of benefits that further enrich the experience of participation: a free tour of the walls and museums and free rides on the Dubrovnik cable car. In addition to sports, participants thus get a unique opportunity to explore Dubrovnik from a perspective that few guests have – from the top of the city walls but also to enjoy the panoramic view of the Adriatic. So on Friday and Sunday the city becomes a large informal gathering zone for hundreds of athletes from all over the world.
While the competitors themselves prepare for the harsh Dubrovnik karst, you can follow the atmosphere through our webams.
Dubrovnik Spartan Trail is more than a sporting event, it is a complete experience that combines sport, nature, culture and history.

Street Stradun or Placa how is called by Dubrovnik people, is the main street of the town, the vibrant street you need to visit if you want to feel the spirit of the city. If you did not walk through Stradun, you were not even in Dubrovnik - there is a famous proverb about this street. It is 298 meters long and it can be easily walked for ten minutes of light walk, but for Dubrovnik people it is the longest street in the world where everybody knows and greets everybody, comments on daily events
