    The Labor Day Festival is a top gastronomic event that hard-working Novalja caterers have traditionally prepared for their visitors during the May Day holidays. The season in Novalja traditionally begins with Easter, and this event is an integral part of the pre-season events in this famous Croatian tourist destination, which is also widely known for its gastronomy, primarily for Pag cheese and lamb, and top-quality olive oil.

    In the pre-season gastronomic events together with Marsovca, the Labor Day Festival has absolutely imposed itself as a major gastronomic event of the season, organized by the Association of Craftsmen of the City of Novalja - the Guild of Caterers, the Tourist Board of the City of Novalja and the City of Novalja. This year's event will be held in the center of Novalja on Basilica Square.

    Taste Novalja and island delicacies such as lamb, Pag cheese, Novalja macaroni and fish specialties, prepared in the traditional way, but also enriched with elements of the modern gastronomic scene. This is an opportunity to get to know the flavors of Pag and Novalja prepared in the way generations of islanders have done, and young people use events like this to preserve their recipes and tradition, passing it on to new generations.

    Finding yourself in the company of regions that produce some of the best cheeses in Europe is no small feat. The island of Pag is listed among the nine destinations that cheese lovers should visit, along with Roquefort-sur-Soulzon Camembert in France, Gruyères in Switzerland, where the famous cheese has been produced since the 12th century, Parma in Italy, the Dutch towns of Gouda and Streefkerk, Swiss Emmental and Asturias in Spain.
