Vrijeme čitanja: 2 minThe 6th international cycling marathon Granfondo Pag – Cycling on the Moon leads through 107 km of lunar landscapes, and Novalja is once again becoming the center of Croatian cycle tourism.
What is a marathon for runners, an ironman for triathletes, it's a Granfondo for cyclists. The competitors in the leading group are struggling to win, the ones in the middle to have the best possible personal time and the ones on frontend to successfully completing a challenging race. Granfondo is more a fight with yourself and less a race with other cyclists. Successfully finish long trail is the biggest prize!
Along the sea horizon, 225 cyclists from all over the world will cycle through 107 kilometers of pure pleasure, but also challenges. The start is at 10:00 am at the bus rotor in Novalja, with a ceremonial parade through the city and a flying start at the exit to the Žigljen ferry port. The route then winds through Žigljen and Kolan, with the scents of the sea and salt near Šimun, crosses the town of Pag and climbs to Gorica, and then hugs Novalja again via Dinjiška, Mišković and Fortica. 107 kilometers and 1,210 meters of ascent remain in your legs, and in your head are images that justify the name of the race - a ride on the "Moon". Ride through the unreal, lunar landscape of the island of Pag.
This sporting event is held under the auspices of the Tourist Board of the City of Novalja and the City of Novalja, holder of the title of European City of Sport for 2025 in the category of cities with up to 25,000 inhabitants. The title is awarded by the non-profit organization ACES Europe (European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation), which recognizes exceptional achievements in the development of sports and sports infrastructure, as well as in encouraging active tourism and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
