On the feast of St. Stephen, 26th December, the traditional 40th Vir’s Christmas Bike Tour will take place.
The Zadar - Vir Christmas Bike Tour starts at the Branimir coast in Zadar and ends at the Vir waterfront.
As always, it will be relaxed and light bike tour in a group with three breaks and refreshments to the island of Vir, and since the Zadar-Vir bicycle is a recreational character, the cycle route will not be closed to traffic.
Around 4pm is plan to arrive on Vir's waterfront with a traditional lunch (pasta with beans), and all participants of the bicycle will be entertained by the excellent Zadar group Zaratino Band. At the end of the gathering there is a traditional awarding ceremony, bicycle equipment kits and a valuable Mountain Bike as a main prize. The main sponsor of all bicycles is the Municipality of Vir, which is also the founder of the Zadar - Vir bike tour.
You still have time to sign up for the bike tour.
And if you're not so sporty about cycling, Vir is an ideal Advent destination. The warm Mediterranean climate and the many concerts and events on the main Vir square and the waterfront will surely give you a real Christmas atmosphere.

Zadar - Bridge, TOP 10 !!!
In 1928, Zadar got its first bridge. It had a pavement and pedestrian sidewalk on both sides, and its opening enabled boat traffic with bay of Jazina. The bombing of the city destroyed a bridge in 1944, and in its place in 1949 a provisional pontoon bridge was built on tin gas bottles. This bridge was a little bit unsafe, especially during strong wind. And finally, in 1962, with the great folk celebration, a bridge that you see here today was built.
